Goals, 1998-1999

Literacy

MS

  • Reduce by 5% the number of middle school students in the first quartile who are tested in both the fall 1998 and spring 1999 ITBS assessments.
  • Increase by 5% the number of middle school students scoring above average who are tested in both the fall 1998 and spring 1999 ITBS assessments.

HS

  • Reduce by 5% the number of high school students in the first quartile who are tested in both the fall 1998 and spring 1999 ITBS assessments.
  • Increase by 5% the number of high school students scoring above average who are tested in both the fall 1998 and spring 1999 ITBS assessments.


Math

MS

  • To reduce by 10 % the number of middle school students in the first quartile who are tested in both the spring '98 and spring '99 ITBS assessments.
  • To increase by 10 % the number of middle school students scoring above average who are tested in both the spring '98 and spring '99 ITBS assessments.

HS

  • To increase by 10 % the number of grade 10 students who have completed Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 with a grade of C or better by the beginning of the 10th grade.
  • To reduce by 10 % the number of grade 11 students in the first quartile who are tested in both the spring '98 and spring '99 ITBS assessments.
  • To increase by 10 % the number of grade 11 students scoring above average who are tested in both the spring '98 and spring '99 ITBS assessments.


School to Career

HS

  • All 9th graders will begin development of an Individual Career Academic Plan with appropriate guidance.
  • 90% of 10th and 11th graders will have updated Individual Career Academic Plans with appropriate guidance.
  • All high schools will develop a plan to inform parents about the ICAP and District STC goal.

HS

  • A District STC business advisory committee will be created.
  • All high schools will create a local business advisory committee.
  • Pathfinder database will be piloted at four high schools.
  • All high schools will monitor, tabulate and report the total number of student/staff work-based experiences.

HS

  • All high schools will design and submit a staff development plan which addresses the integration of STC concepts across the curriculum by October 1, 1998.

MS

  • All 8th graders will take the ACT Career Interest Inventory and receive testing results and appropriate guidance and counseling.
  • All middle schools will include STC in their staff development efforts with a focus on workplace standards in curriculum.


Graduation

HS

  • To increase the district's graduation rate to 68% for the class of 1999 (an increase of 3.1 from the 1998 graduation rate).


Drop Outs

HS

  • To decrease the district-wide dropout rate to below 6% for the 1998-1999 school year (a decrease of at least .3 of a percent from the 1997-1998 rate of 6.2 %).


SAT/ACT

HS

  • To increase the mean composite ACT score for 1999 district graduates to 20.0 (an increase of .3 of a point from the mean for 1998 graduates).
  • To increase the mean Verbal and Mathematics SAT scores to 525 for 1999 district graduates (an increase of 3 points on the Verbal scale and 4 points on the Mathematics scale from the means for 1998 graduates).


Suspension

MS

  • To reduce the number of Middle School duplicated suspensions from 5642 to 5142.
